CRITICAL UPDATE AUG 2024: The air conditioning in our museum has broken; we are unable to estimate a time for repairs or replacement. Meanwhile, you are welcomed to visit our site and enjoy exhibits on our front porch and in our Welcome Center (30-45 minutes) as well as take our (25-minute) self-guided audio driving tour daily sun-up to sun-down. We will post updates here or call the museum for our voicemail recording 225-642-1950. This museum tells the story of the leprosy quarantine hospital developed on site and operated, first by the state of Louisiana, and then the U.S. Public Health Service. Exhibits and self-guided audio tours available. History covered spans 1894 to the present. NOTE: There are no longer any patients on site. Hansen's disease (leprosy) is now treated as an out-patient disease. Self-guided audio tour of grounds available during daylight hours. Map on the front porch of museum.
