Louisiana is located in the southern United States, Bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Texas to the west. Much of the state's land was formed from sediment washed down from the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas, vast areas of marshlands, and swamps. Louisiana is one of two US states that have political subdivisions called parishes which are similar to counties in other states.

The French Quarter is one of New Orleans's most important attractions for tourists, being home to many bars and clubs as well as cajun restaurants. There is always activity in the day and night. It's always a lively atmosphere with street musicians and performers. Mardi Gras is a world-famous festival that happens in New Orleans every year. The festival draws many to the state for it's rich history and traditions as well as fun nightlife.

The largest cities on the Louisiana map are New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, and Lake Charles.
