Los Islenos Heritage & Cultural Society of St. Bernard is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and promoting the unique language, heritage, and cultural traditions of the Canary Islanders who settled in Louisiana between 1778 and 1783. Established in 1976, the organization plays a crucial role in maintaining the identity and cultural legacy of the Isleños community in St. Bernard Parish.
The Los Isleños Museum Complex features nine structures and highlights various cultural elements, including a Houma Native American interpretive area and nature trails. Through events and community engagement, the society fosters a connection to their ancestral roots and promotes the vibrant traditions of the Isleños people.
