The Louisiana Energy and Power Authority (LEPA) is a joint-action agency established by the State Legislature in 1979, comprising 19 Louisiana cities and towns with independent municipal power systems. LEPA's mission is to provide its member communities with reliable and cost-effective electricity through all-requirements power contracts and a computerized Energy Control Center located in Lafayette.

By dispatching electricity to all participating member cities simultaneously on a cost-effective basis, LEPA enables each municipality to reduce power costs while maintaining its own municipal system.
