19th JDC
The 19th Judicial District Court (19th JDC) serves East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, as one of the state's 42 judicial districts with original jurisdiction over all civil and criminal matters. Comprising fifteen elected judges and four appointed commissioners, the court is committed to administering justice and enhancing access to legal services for the community.
In recent initiatives, the 19th JDC has expanded access to protective orders through public libraries and introduced a facility dog, Diesel, to provide emotional support during trials. The court is continuously working on improvements to case flow management and addressing the critical shortage of certified court reporters in the region.
