Carbide Industries LLC, a privately owned firm is one of North America's largest producer of calcium carbide products. In 2002, the Louisville, Ky. Based company purchased all operating assets of the Carbide Products Business Unit from The Carbide/ Graphite Group, Inc. The company is a Pittsburgh- based manufacturer of graphite electrodes, needle coke and calcium carbide based products. Carbide Industries LLC's products on offer include blast furnace iron desulfurizers, acetylene gas for specialty chemicals, carbide lime and slag conditioners. It has an annual production capacity of more than 200,000 tons. Carbide Industries LLC is in a technical partnership with NuFlux, LLC. The firm has received ISO 9001-2000 registration for its calcium carbide desulfirization products.
