Ward Hall, located in Georgetown, Kentucky, stands as the grandest Greek Revival residence in the state and a notable example of mid-nineteenth century classical architecture in the United States. Completed around 1857, the mansion was built for Junius Richard Ward and is attributed to Major Thomas Lewinski, with its design influenced by architect Minard Lafever's pattern books.
Acquired by the Ward Hall Preservation Foundation in 2004, the property is undergoing restoration efforts focused on preserving its exterior, as it remains one of the most intact historical homes in the country. Despite its change in ownership over the years, Ward Hall has retained much of its original structure, including a significant 4,000 square-foot basement where servants once lived and worked.
