For more than 15 years, First Step Home Inc. has been an agency that provides individual and group substance abuse counseling for women and children. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the agency provides access to medical services, mental health assessments, life skills training, financial counseling, on-site child care, twelve step meetings and connections to job readiness programs. The programs help women become self-sufficient and gain the ability to live a drug-free life with their children. For children aged 0 to 12 who live with their mothers at the facility, the center offers a comprehensive child and family development program. After the treatment women can move into transitional housing, supervised by First Step Home Inc.

Recovery is defined as a process through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential. It is our job and passion to support our clients through the recovery process. We treat clients with the lowest dose of medication assisted therapy to remove their cravings and withdrawals so that they may begin their path of recovery without the physical obstacles to recovery. We taper our clients dose every three months as tolerated. We believe clients can successfully taper off MAT after acquiring the support and skills they need to obtain their goal of sobriety. We recognize that opioid abuse and dependence is a chronic, progressive illness that requires more than an acute care model. Harmful behaviors including drug abuse impact all aspects of an individual's life, treatment is intended to help guide the patient to develop a healthy lifestyle, and improve their personal relationships.
