Tia M Alton, MD

Mostafa O. El-Refai, is an interventional cardiologist. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he attended medical school at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in order to attend their seven year medical school and gain a unique medical experience. Dr. El-Refai returned to the United States for his internal medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital, where he was elected Chief Medical Resident. He completed his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He served as the Chief Interventional Cardiology fellow. He has been recognized with several awards and honors, most recently, the Baylor College of Medicine Drs. Richard and Patricia Van Reet Award for excellence in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. El-Refai also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation Sciences from the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences. He has several publications and presentations. His research interests focus on coronary artery disease, acute myocardial infarction, percutaneous coronary intervention, heart failure, and quality improvement and patient safety.

Lisa Stephens, M.D., earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky and a medical degree from the University of Louisville, where she also completed her pediatric residency. Dr. Stephens, board certified in pediatrics, is a member of the American Medical Association, the Kentucky Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Greater Louisville Medical Society. A native of Frankfort, Kentucky, she enjoys spending time with her three children, cooking, traveling and taking care of the family pets.
