The Islands in Louisville, KY is an award-winning zoo exhibit that offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of various islands and their ecological treasures. With a focus on maintaining a delicate balance between man and nature, the Islands zone is home to a multi-species rotational exhibit that simulates the animals' natural habitats, allowing visitors to catch glimpses of elusive Sumatran tigers, orangutans, siamangs, Malayan tapirs, babirusas, and other rare species like the Victoria crowned pigeon.

From exploring the indoor Islands Pavilion to enjoying the beachy settings of Penguin Cove with little penguins and encountering giant Aldabra tortoises near the stream, visitors to The Islands will be fully immersed in the sounds, sights, and culture of these islands. The exhibit also features a conservation center for little penguins, an opportunity to meet orangutans, and original artisan creations from exotic locations like Indonesia and Bali.
