St. James Court in Louisville, Kentucky, was envisioned in the 1890s by Wm H. Slaughter and developed with the Victoria Land Company, originally serving as a sports and entertainment complex. The area is historically significant, having hosted the home field of Louisville's charter member National League team in the late 1800s and the main building of the Southern Exposition during its peak.

In the mid-1950s, St. James Court fell into disrepair, prompting a preservation movement led by Malcolm Bird, Bob Smith, and Jim Perry. The St. James Court Art Show, founded in 1957, has since grown into one of the nation's largest art shows, contributing to the area's revitalization and recognition as a Historic Preservation District established in 1974.
