I love to visit the shaker village in south union. My mother in law Sue worked in the gift shop and did tours back in the early 2000's. Amazing history so well kept to see how they lived.

Historic site of the South Union Shaker village, a community that existed from 1807-1922. The site includes a nationally recognized museum that houses exhibits about South Union's history, along with seven other supporting historic structures on 500 acres of farmland. This most southern of Shaker villages offers a unique look at the sect, a religious community that espoused equality of the sexes and races, technology, and simplicity in all things. Educational programming and events are offered and rentals are available.

Enjoyed a very interesting and informative visit to this piece of Americana. Buildings to visit, grounds to walk. Include this in a visit to Bowling Hreen Ky area.
