Scarlett B. Hao, M.D., MPH, is a colon and rectal surgeon with Norton Surgical Specialists – Colorectal Health. She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. She completed her general surgery residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Corewell/William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She also holds a master’s degree in public health. Dr. Hao is board certified in general surgery and board-eligible in colorectal surgery. Dr. Hao takes a patient-centered approach to treating diseases of the colon, rectum and anus, providing care for a wide range of conditions, including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, colorectal cancer, constipation, rectal prolapse and fecal incontinence. She is trained in minimally invasive and advanced surgical techniques, including robotic colectomies, transanal resections, rectopexy and sacral nerve stimulator implantation. Her care philosophy centers on shared decision-making and clear communication.
