The Red River Museum in Clay City, KY is a fascinating treasure trove of odd antiquated items that offer visitors a glimpse into the past of Powell County and Kentucky's history. With two floors of amazing junk and antiques, as well as a yard full of more stuff, the museum showcases railroad memorabilia, rustic antiques, old photos, Indian artifacts, and old soda bottles, all housed in the former Clay City National Bank building built in 1875.

The Three Forks Historical Center in Beattyville, KY is a hidden gem that provides a visual impression of the history of the region. This neat museum features impressive sections, such as the recently added Veteran Hall, which displays wartime posters, pictures, sabres, badges, and uniforms donated by soldiers' families. The museum also presents the ancient Native American cultures, pioneering history of logging, railroad heritage, county's agriculture, and oil boom days, along with evidence of local prison craftsmanship.
