Greg Schmieder, M.D., joined Norton Vascular Associates in July 2008. Dr. Schmieder recently completed a fellowship in vascular surgery from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Prior to his fellowship he completed a general surgery residency and an additional fellowship in surgical critical care at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Dr. Ferenc Nagy is a board-certified vascular surgeon with Norton Vascular Associates. As a vascular surgeon, he manages all conditions related or artery and vein disease. Dr. Nagy has always wanted to be a doctor and was a first generation college graduate. After high school he volunteered in hospitals and he wanted to utilize his knowledge to help people. He also is a first generation American, born and raised in southeast Michigan. Dr. Nagy went to college at Michigan State University and medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit. He and his wife wanted to move to Louisville immediately after fellowship after their first visit to build their family. Dr. Nagy treats a variety of conditions including artery aneurysms (like AAA), artery blockages in the neck (carotid artery) and legs (PAD), and treatment for dialysis access. He also treats vein disease such as varicose veins and leg swelling. As a Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Nagy is trained to be able to treat people in many different ways, including performing minimally invasive procedures such as stents for artery aneurysms and leg blockages and opening narrowing with balloons, while also being able to do surgical operations such as leg bypasses, carotid endarterectomy, and varicose vein removal operations. Dr. Nagy’s patient care philosophy is based on the belief that every patient has the right to be heard and listened to. He makes a conscious effort to understand the patients experience to correctly diagnose and communicate with the patient to ensure they can make the most informed decisions for themselves. Personally, Dr. Nagy enjoys cooking and having campfires with his kids in the backyard (including eating s’mores), swimming and traveling with his family. When he does have a day off, he likes waking up early, making a nice cup of coffee and sitting outside when it’s still cool and reading a book or the newspaper.

Dr. Nathaniel Liu is a vascular surgeon with Norton Vascular Associates. He is originally from Cincinnati Ohio. He completed his medical school training at Case Western Reserve University. He then completed general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship through University hospitals of Cleveland Ohio. Dr. Liu has been in practice with Norton Healthcare for the last seven years. Medicine has been an important part of Dr. Liu's family tradition. His grandfather and grandmother were missionary doctors who brought the family out of communist China. His father, uncle and aunt all followed suit and became physicians as well. Dr. Liu is married to Dr. Sarah Kane, M.D. who is a female pelvic medicine and reconstruction surgery specialist with Norton Healthcare. Dr. Liu treats blood vessels throughout the human body including cerebrovascular disease, aortic aneurysm disease, lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, hemodialysis access, and varicose veins. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery.
