The Floyd County Sheriff's Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure public safety. The Floyd County Sheriff's Department supports Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE), which is a program that informs and involves crime victims in important matters related to their cases. The department offers several support services, including gun registration, animal control, concealed weapon permits, and traffic and parking law enforcement. The Floyd County Sheriff's Department is located in New Albany, Ind.

The Clark County Jail is a detention center with nearly 200 beds. The facility has an indoor and outdoor recreational area and modern security system. It is staffed with more than 35 correction officers, several dispatchers, cooks, maintenance personnel, a full-time nurse, chaplain, work supervisor, medical doctor and receptionist. Six of its correction officers also act as transport officers. The Clark County Jail is operated by the Clark County Police Department, which is a law enforcement agency that offers protection services for more than 100,000 people, including residents, visitors and support personnel.
