Kentucky Equine Management Internship
The Kentucky Equine Management Internship (KEMI) program offers a comprehensive educational experience for college students and recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in equine management. Through this internship, students integrate academic studies with practical experience, leadership, and responsibility on Central Kentucky horse farms. They are employed full-time by participating farms, where they gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day management of horses, while also being introduced to a network of equine professionals representing various careers in the industry.
KEMI provides students with the opportunity to work 48 hours per week on area farms, with one day off, and engage in classroom lectures, laboratory exercises, and demonstrations. The program aims to improve the opportunities for students by offering them a chance to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting and develop essential skills for a successful career in the equine profession.
