Disco was king, workers lined up for lunch at a lunch counter Homemade was started. We opened as a lunch counter at 2525 Bardstown Road in what was formerly an old Cheverolet dealership, then converted to a small neighborhood center. This is at the outer edge of the historic Highlands disctrict in Louisville. Every day we would serve lunch and meals from the lunch counter, baking was a small part of the business, though we had requests for sweets. We started making one or two pies a day, the smell overwhelmed the lunch counter and soon we became well known for our fresh baked pies. The pies became so popular that the lunch counter was changed over to make way for a pie case, which was soon followed by an ice cream case. We purchased an old fashion ice cream machine in order to follow in our tradition of making everything from scratch.Since then we have grown to include fresh baked cakes, cookies, and many other old fashion desserts, like meringue pies, strawberry rhubarb, peach and pumpkin pies. We serve old fashioned malts, sundaes and many more truely great traditional desserts. 2005 Pie Kitchen LLC.
