We provide professional psychological services and deep inner-healing prayer to individuals, and consultation, problem-solving and workshops to pastors, churches, ministries and businesses. ABOUT GOOD SHEPHERD INSTITUTE Good Shepherd Institute was established in January 2004 as a not-for-profit [ 501 (c) corporation chartered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Our Mission is to bring Jesus to the culture in all ways that are possible for us, and we began as a Christian Counseling Ministry. We provide professional psychological services through Dr. Richard Meyer, our Clinical Director, and we also work with our clients in doing deep inner-healing prayer. As noted above, this is accomplished through several mature volunteers overseen by Dr. Meyer, who trained them and continues to mentor them in this type of prayer. One of the reasons Good Shepherd Institute was founded is so that Christians who need professional psychological services from the perspective of a living Christian faith may receive these in a safe and caring atmosphere. Another is that those who do not have health insurance, or who's managed care mental health panels do not contain faith-based psychologists, may have Christian psychological services available to them based on what they are able to afford. Otherwise, they might not be able to receive the help they most need. However, in order to keep our ministry open we must also depend on the generosity of our clients and the friends of Good Shepherd Institute for donations to supplement what we can earn through our professional services. When Good Shepherd Institute opened its doors in January, 2004 we begin right away to provide Christian counseling and inner-healing prayer to our clients. It actually was started, however, after a year of prayer and preparation by several people involved with Christian counseling, prayer ministry and youth ministry who felt a call to establish a center for service to individuals, and outreach to the Church and to society at large.
