Not your Mother's Cherry House Cherry House traces its roots back to 1969, when Shirley Whitehouse bought out a shop in LaGrange, Ky., that specialized in solid cherry reproductions. By 1972, what started as a pastime had become a passion. The cherry furniture line was expanded to include other woods that were set off beautifully by a variety of accessories and gifts that were specially handpicked by Whitehouse. Her husband, Owen, closed down his construction business and joined her as a full-time partner. In 1973, the company branched out further with the opening of a second location in Shelbyville, Ky. By 1984, Cherry House was firmly established as one of Kentucky's premier sources for affordable fine furnishings, attracting customers throughout the state, as well as Cincinnati, Indianapolis and other parts of the country. Furniture lines include accents, bedroom, dining room, entertainment, children s furniture, living room and office. Cherry House maintains a location in La Grange.
