KMEA is a federated state association of the MENC: The National Association for Music Education. Our stated mission is "to advance the cause of music education throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky by encouraging the study and making of music by all of the population and by serving as a strong advocate for issues affecting the accomplishment of that mission." In pursuit of that mission, KMEA organizes and produces a variety of activities which include the music education professional development conference ; performance assessment events for marching bands, concert choirs, bands, and orchestras, and solos and ensembles ; and the quarterly publication of The Bluegrass Music News.We believe that quality music instruction provided by professional music educators is a vital part of every child's education, and that opportunities to learn about, experience, and make music should be available to all Kentuckians throughout their lifetime. Please take some time to explore our website.
