Established in 1858, the Topeka Police Department is a law enforcement agency that works to preserve peace, deter crime, and maintain law and order. It operates animal control, bicycle, K-9, narcotics and helicopter units. The department s criminal investigation division is comprised of criminal intelligence, scientific investigation and court liaison units.
