Research on Black Wichita
The Research on Black Wichita (ROBW) project is a collaborative initiative focused on uncovering and preserving the rich history of the Black community in Wichita, Kansas. Since its inception, the project has engaged students and community members in research, education, and events that emphasize the significance of local Black history.
Under the direction of Galyn A. Vesey, PhD, ROBW has successfully launched undergraduate courses, curated valuable historical resources, and initiated a series of local foundation grants to facilitate its research efforts. By involving students from various institutions, ROBW aims to broaden awareness around the cultural contributions and experiences of Black Wichitans, illuminating narratives that have long been overlooked.
