The Rector Diabetes Education and Resource Center at Labette Health was founded to address the lack of comprehensive diabetes-related information available to caregivers and educators, particularly for children like Rhett May, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a young age. With a team led by pediatrician Manish Dixit, MD, the center offers a 2,000-square-foot facility equipped with classroom space, a demonstration kitchen, and modern fitness equipment.

Originally focused on pediatric care, the center has expanded its services to cater to adults as well, providing education, classes, and demonstrations for individuals of all ages by certified diabetes clinicians. Led by Jennifer Metscher, APRN, BC-ADM, CDCES, and Adele Bohn, R/LD, CDCES, the care team ensures personalized support for all patients seeking help managing their diabetes.
