Multi Cultural Engineering Program
The Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) at Kansas State University's Carl R. Ice College of Engineering is a comprehensive program that aims to identify, recruit, mentor, and graduate Black, Hispanic, and Native American students enrolled in the college. Directed by LaVerne Bitsie-Baldwin, a member of the Navajo Nation, the MEP has been in operation since 1977 and is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the field of engineering.
LaVerne Bitsie-Baldwin, the director of the Multicultural Engineering Program, holds an endowed chair, the Dow Directorship for the MEP. With a background in mathematics and extensive experience in the field, she has been leading the program since 2005. The MEP offers support and resources to underrepresented students, helping them succeed academically and professionally in the engineering industry.
