Since its inception in 1989, Larkin Excavating has outgrown its office three times. In May 1997, a new shop and office complex was built in Lansing, Kan. After more than a decade, John Larkin continues to run Larkin Excavating as its president and CEO. Under his leadership, Larkin has grown to employ more than 40 full-time employees and owns equipment worth in excess of $4 million. The company has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. It has successfully worked through most of the problems associated with such rapid growth, economic hardship and new construction methods. Larkin Excavating began as a one-person company, running from the front seat of Larkin s pickup.
