The Bonner Springs Department of Fire-EMS, led by Chief Tim Richards, is an all-hazard agency dedicated to minimizing the loss of life and property through comprehensive emergency services, including fire rescue, wildland firefighting, hazardous materials response, and advanced life support ambulance services. Transitioning to a staffed model in 2022, the department continues to adapt to the growing needs of the community while maintaining a proactive approach through inspections, investigations, and public education. With a daily staffing of four responders for suppression and two for medic transport, the department ensures around-the-clock advanced life support capabilities. The team consists of approximately 55 full-time and part-time personnel, all cross-trained in both fire and emergency medical services, allowing for effective response to the dynamic demands of Bonner Springs.
