Johnson County Traffic Court

The Johnson County Court Administrator is an administrative office of Johnson County District Courts. The office is located in Olathe, Kan., and coordinates with the office of judicial administration, a managerial arm of the Kansas Supreme Court. It also coordinates with the Johnson County government regarding nonjudicial personnel that include various employees, such as the clerk of the district court and official court reporters. It also oversees budgets assigned to the unified district courts and payment to vendors and provides assistance to the budget and executive committees of the courts. The office also provides assistance for budget planning, estimation of expenditure, and revenue and preparation of projection reports. The Johnson County Court Administrator is also responsible for the payment of salaries to attorneys appointed by the district court to represent criminal, civil and juvenile cases. Additionally, it is responsible for the jury management that involves coordination with various divisions of the district court.

Johnson County District Courts, administered by the Kansas Judicial Branch, offers various administrative and legal services to local residents. The various departments of the court include human resources, civil suits, criminal records, land records and elections. It provides information on recording, marriage licenses, passports, archives, uniform commercial code, and birth certificates and records. The clerk of court also has a Web site that offers online record search and access options, submission of applications, and state and local information. It has an archive department that provides genealogy and local history information, including successions, cemetery and original records, charters, partnerships, oaths, names, addresses, occupations, marital and family status, citizenship, and property holding details. Johnson County Court Services works to carry out the orders of the court by working with clients and families to make the community a safer and better place to live. It provides supervision and investigations for the criminal courts with mediation and evaluations for the civil courts. It maintains an adult presentence investigation unit that responsible for the preparation of misdemeanor and felony presentence investigation reports as ordered by the Johnson County District Court and in accordance with the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines. Located in Olathe, Kan., Johnson County Court Services maintains teams related to domestic violence, fraud and forgery, intensive supervision, drug and sex offenders.
