The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has a strong commitment to providing fair, responsive and expeditious service and protection to all Douglas County residents. The office is divided into two main administrative areas: the Corrections Division and the Operations Division. The Corrections Division has the primary responsibility for the jail and the inmates housed therein. Its staff serves in a variety of capacities including direct supervision of inmates, booking/intake, escort, transportation and administrative functions. The Operations Division is comprised of a number of areas, including patrol, civil process/warrants, investigations, courtroom/building security, community relations and administration. Douglas County Sheriff's Office personnel serve in the following specialized units: drug enforcement, training and development, information technology, underwater search and recovery and traffic accident reconstruction.

The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office-Jail Division is a 157-bed facility that provides detention and confinement facilities to convicted prisoners and detainees in pending trials. It works under the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office, which was established in 1973 and employs more than 110 staff members with a fleet of over 30 vehicles. The sheriff s office maintains a tactical assistance group and a clandestine response team. In addition, it has administration, detective, traffic and patrol divisions. The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office operates a justice center and supports the Drug Abuse resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. The jail is located in Leavenworth, Kan.

The Linn County Sheriff's Department is responsible for issuing concealed carry permits. The department responds to a range of emergency situations. In addition, it provides a variety of information about registered offenders. The Linn County Sheriff's Department is a part of the government of Linn County in Kansas, which has a population of more than 9,700 people. The county operates a solid waste department that maintains a fleet of trailers, trucks and dumpers. The department is responsible for managing hazardous waste materials, such as paints, chemicals, and house and garden pesticides. It also recycles various products, including cardboards, bottles, magazines and cans.
