After graduating from Kansas State University, Jeremy moved to St. Louis, Missouri, started a small business IT company, and met his future wife Jane. For several years, the Perkins-Finney family lived in Wellington, New Zealand (Jane's hometown) and Jeremy did IT operations management for New Zealands 2nd largest phone company (TelstraClear).
