History
Johnson County Park & Recreation acquired the land now known as Ernie Miller Park in 1972. In 1985 the Nature Center opened as the first nature center in Johnson County. Over the years we have added on more space inside the nature center. Most recently in 2015 we opened a new exhibit area with hands on exhibits including puzzles, a water table, touch/feel pelts and more.
Specialties
In our nature center you'll see live KS native animals, educational exhibits, receive information about programs and special events we off year round. We also have a gift shop with unique and fun items including books, bug candy & snacks, jewelry, rocks, gems and more! We sit in the middle of a beautiful 116 acre park with right at 3 miles of trails for you to hike and enjoy. No bikes or pets please.
