County Government Russell
Russell County Fire District #5, originating in 1958 as the Center Township Fire Department, has been serving a coverage area of approximately 216 square miles. The district transitioned to its current structure in 2003, incorporating the Fairfield and Lincoln Townships and operating two fire stations: the Bunker Hill Station and the Lincoln Station.
Leadership within the district has seen notable figures, with Wayne Peck serving as the first Fire Chief for three decades, followed by Alan Kuntzsch from 1988 to 2010. Currently, the Bunker Hill Station is led by District Chief Tracey Kuntzsch and Assistant Chief Tom Batt, while the Lincoln Station is overseen by Station Chief Monte Mai and Assistant Chief Kurt Dewaldt.
