What a hidden gem of a campground. Beautiful spot. Nice level campsites. I can't wait to come back.

Yellow Banks Park, located in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, is a 552-acre park offering stunning views of the Des Moines River and surrounding countryside. With its 140-foot tall bluffs formed from loess soil deposited by the wind during the time of the glaciers, the park is a haven for hiking enthusiasts. Visitors can explore scenic overlooks, an oak savanna, a Native American burial mound, and a unique backpacking camping area. Yellow Banks Park is also a prime spot for viewing migrating raptors in the spring and fall.
Steeped in history, Yellow Banks Park has been a significant resource for thousands of years. From the Paleo-Indian culture to the Oneota culture, the land has been home to various groups of people who hunted, gathered, farmed, and built burial mounds. Acquired by Polk County Conservation in 1980, Yellow Banks Park continues to offer breathtaking views and a range of activities, including wildlife viewing, camping, and relaxation.
