A 501c(6) non-profit, established in 1986 by Washington businesses people. The group is the successor to Washington Industries, Inc. that was a for-profit corporation established in the 1950s to help local industries to expand. WEDG has a 9 member board of directors and an executive director. Since 1996, the director has been Ed Raber. Since 2003, Washington County has been the southern half of the Iowa City MSA (metro area).
