Systems Unlimited is a nonprofit provider of creative, leading edge services to people with disabilities in eastern Iowa. The organization has been a leader in serving children, adults and families with disabilities and other challenges to achieve their maximum potential and quality of life for over three decades. The agency was started in the early 1970s by parents seeking alternatives to institutionalization for their children. Systems Unlimited was among the first agencies in the country to obtain low-income housing from HUD, which allowed people to live in small, non-institutional environments in a community of their choice. The agency s main office is in Iowa City, Iowa, but it also has satellite offices in Cedar Rapids, Monticello, Muscatine, Washington and Burlington, Iowa.
