The Des Moines Big Band, founded in 1959, is one of America's longest running jazz orchestras, known for its progressive sounds and commitment to presenting large-ensemble jazz without compromise. With a mission to keep jazz alive and vibrant, the band regularly commissions new compositions while still honoring the classics, and provides a venue for student musicians to hear high-quality performances in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Having become a regular stop for touring artists and garnering attention from local media, the Des Moines Big Band performs every Wednesday night from September to May at Noc, Des Moines' newest Jazz Club and Cabaret.
