Reicks View Farms was founded by Dale and Laura Reicks in 1977 near the small town of Jerico, Iowa. They began with 240 acres of corn and soy beans along with 200 sows. Struggling through the farm crisis of the 1980's, they managed to move forward with a positive attitude. Today, Dale and Laura with approximately 90 employees continue to farm corn as well as produce top quality pork, earning them recognition as Master Pork Producers. While concentrating on the business aspect of farming, Reicks View Farms also takes pride in its family oriented environment. Employees are encouraged to attend their children's events and to spend time with their families. Their children are also encouraged to be involved. Along with Dale and Laura's children they attend the local 4-H county fair and the Iowa State Fair to show the pigs they have raised. Which, in turn has earned them county and state awards. In the 1980's they received Grand Champion Carcass and Reserve Champion Live. And in the 1990's they received Chickasaw County 1st place Lightweight Class, Champion Carcass, Champion Market Pig, and Reserve Champion Market Pen of Three. While enduring the farm crisis of the late 90's, Reicks View Farms, decided to move forward once again. Through many months of brainstorming and research, Reicks View Farms decided to turn a negative into a positive by offering their top quality pork to the people of the world through Reicks View Farms Quality Meats. Being a proud Iowa farmer has made Dale and Laura very loyal to the state in which they live. RVF participates in the Buy Local, Buy Fresh campaign, and belong to Choose Iowa, which are both active groups that promote small businesses in Iowa. Dale and Laura are also very generous to the local community. The local schools and churches use Reicks View Farms Quality Meats for many of their events. Many donations are made throughout the community: benefits, clubs, school & church events, many town celebrations and fund raisers ; the list goes on and on. Additionally, Reicks View Farms collaborates with neighboring producers to purchase crop inputs for feed needs, with the focus of purchasing local when possible.
