Lake City, Iowa, population 1, 867, is located in the southwest corner of Calhoun County on State Highway 175 and County Road N-41. Founded in 1856 by prairie settlers, Lake City is the oldest and most historic town in the county. It was named after Lake Creek, which flows to the northwest of town.
