Galena-Stauss Hospital & Healthcare Center was founded in 1962 as Northwest Illinois Community Hospital. Galena-Stauss Hospital & Healthcare Center operates as a nonprofit, municipal corporation hospital district, and is governed by a nine-member board of directors. The facility comprises a 25-bed critical access hospital, 57-bed skilled nursing facility, 24-apartment assisted living center, adult day care center and a physical therapy and fitness center.
