Iowa Braille & Sight SVNG School

Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School offers education to visually challenged students. Founded in 1852, the school offers various low vision services to parents and schools for visually impaired students. Located in Vinton, Iowa, the school provides services, such as clinical and functional vision examinations, analyses of an appropriate reading medium, follow-up in the home and school and referrals for further diagnostic exams. It also offers consultations for classroom adaptations, low-vision device loaner programs and assistance with low-vision device purchases. It also provides outreach services, such as infant and preschool, educational services orientation and mobility and technology for visually impaired children. The school provides residential and day programs on campus and outreach services throughout the state in cooperation with the state department of education, area education agencies and the local school districts.
