Heart of Iowa-Area Substance Abuse Council

Founded in 1962, the Area Substance Abuse Council, also known as ASAC, is a nonprofit corporation that provides substance abuse treatment and prevention services. It offers assessment, extended and intensive outpatient, residential, halfway house and continuing care services. The organization offers a variety of programs and activities for communities, schools and workplaces. In addition, the Area Substance Abuse Council provides a parent/family education program that teaches communication skills and stress management and prevention intervention techniques. It also offers assessment, evaluation, intervention and outpatient treatment services. The organization is licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Division of Health Promotion and Prevention and Addictive Behaviors. Area Substance Abuse Council maintains a location in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
