The Davenport School Museum holds a rich history dating back to its inception in 1960, when Superintendent Anthony Marinaccio inspired Mary A. Baker and other retirees to establish an association dedicated to preserving school history. Initially, artifacts were stored in Mary's attic, and over time, plans solidified to create a school district museum with the backing of Superintendent Lee Grebner and the school board.

The museum's journey culminated in 2002 when it found its permanent residence at 1606 North Brady Street (now located at 1702 N. Main St). Robert McCue, a retired teacher and principal deeply involved in education post-retirement, played a pivotal role in the museum's development. Today, the museum stands as a testament to the dedication of its board members, volunteers, and the community in celebrating the educational legacy of Davenport.

Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits and displays showcasing the evolution of education in Davenport on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Research, tours, and lectures can be arranged by appointment, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the educational heritage of the region and connect with local history enthusiasts.
