Danish Countryside Vines & Wines, located in Exira, IA, began as a passion project when Andy Petersen gifted his father a wine-making kit on Christmas Day 2001. This venture evolved into a thriving winery after planting the first vines in 2003 and restoring a century-old barn, with the winery officially opening in 2006 under the guidance of Allan and Carol Petersen.

In 2016, ownership transitioned to Loren and Jennifer Christensen, who continue to uphold the family tradition of viticulture. The winery now offers an impressive selection of 20 different wines, reflecting the dedication and support of loyal customers over the years.
