Originally from Southern California, I consider myself an Iowan now. I attended Brigham Young University for my undergraduate schooling majoring in Human Development. I moved to Iowa to continue schooling at Des Moines University in 1999 and continued my training in Des Moines at the county hospital, Broadlawns Medical Center.Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife and 7 children. I enjoy working outside, woodworking, canoeing, camping. I am actively involved in my faith and am in volunteer service at Church, currently teaching an early morning gospel study class for high school students.

Dr. Periasamy is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She has 27 years of experience in this field, having treated more than 25,000 obesity patients.
