In 1884, the Iowa Mutual Tornado Insurance Company was formed to provide wind and tornado insurance to farmers. It is a mutual company that is controlled by the policyholders. As the company grew and expanded into other states the name was changed to IMT Insurance. It has become a financially strong property and casualty organization in the Midwest with more than 115 years of experience. It provides many different forms of protection for home, auto and business. IMT is marketed through a growing network of local independent insurance agents in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
