The Freedom Rock, established in 1999 and located in rural Iowa, is a large boulder that is repainted annually to honor the nation's veterans. Artist Ray Bubba Sorensen II, inspired by the film "Saving Private Ryan," dedicates his efforts to create a unique tribute each year, supported by donations from the community.
In addition to the original Freedom Rock, Sorensen has initiated a project to establish a Freedom Rock in every county of Iowa, resulting in a total of 99 rocks across the state. His vision has expanded to include the 50 State Freedom Rock Tour, allowing him to share this heartfelt tribute to veterans with communities nationwide.
