Waters Edge is a garden center that was founded in 1998 by Dave and Carolyn Scofield. Their passion for installing garden ponds for people to enjoy led them to turn their hobby into a business. Starting out as a pond store, they soon expanded to include garden art, Christmas decor, home decor, and a ladies' boutique. Over the years, they have adapted to the changing business landscape, adding vintage furniture to the home decor section, and growing their business to meet the needs of their customers. After 15 years on Wentworth Avenue, Waters Edge moved to a new, larger location at 5 Ridge Road in Munster. This move proved to be a great decision, as the more visible location on the highly trafficked Ridge Road brought in new customers while still retaining their old ones. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the new location is a beautiful showcase for their products. Waters Edge offers a unique range of Christmas decor during the holiday season. In the spring, their garden art takes over. Their ladies' boutique has tripled in size, featuring clothing, jewelry, purses, scarves, and hats. Their gift department has a wide selection of items for special occasions. As one of the few active pond supply stores in Indiana and Chicago, Waters Edge draws people from all the suburbs. They carry a full selection of pond pumps, heaters, and Koi and happily help do-it-yourselfers build their own ponds. Despite being at retirement age, Dave and Carolyn still love running the business. "It's a passion," they say, "we love helping our customers." Waters Edge hours vary depending on the time of year.
