Founded by Al and Elroy Troyer in 1948, Troyer Foods originally marketed poultry to restaurants and grocery stores. In the 1950s and 1960s the company expanded its products to include other types of poultry, breading, shortening and french fries. Through the 1970s and 1980s it added fresh and processed pork, boxed beef, deli and bakery items, seafood and other frozen foods. The company works with more than 200 vendors and operates a modern truck fleet that serves clients within a 300-mile radius of Troyer Foods headquarters in Goshen, Ind. Troyer Foods marketing partners include A To Z, Clyde s Delicious Donuts, Chung s, Maple Leaf Farms, Miller Amish Country Poultry, Sugardale and Pilgrim s Pride.

Well, our kids had a basketball down the road. Everyone wanted bacon sale, we pulled in the parking lot as they were locking the doors. We were gonna buy 40#'s. Had cash...they said come back...

Knouse Foods Co-op Inc

Knouse Foods' Paw Paw plant started in the late 1930s as the Paw Paw Canning Company, which was then sold to Dwan Home Canning in the late 1950s. Dwan merged with Musselman, who then merged with PET Milk. Michigan Quality Foods bought this plant in 1981 and sold it to Knouse in 1982. Knouse started its first pack with cherries, asparagus, peaches and raspberries. The plant packs apple sauce and apple juice in a variety of sizes and containers.
