History

The building which Tippecanoe Place Restaurant is located was originally the home of the Studebaker Family which built the mansion in the 1880s and completed in 1889 when the family moved in. Clem Studebaker founded (along with his four brothers) the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company (a wagon manufacturing business) in February 1852 in South Bend, Indiana. The business began building electric vehicles in 1902 and in 1904 began selling gasoline vehicles under the name Studebaker Automobile Company. After many ownership changes, Tippecanoe Place Restaurant began operations in 1980 and has become a premier destination spot for visitors of South Bend and a traditional celebratory restaurant for generations of local families and businesses. Today, Tippecanoe Place continues to offer amazing traditional menu items along with new cuisine and continuous special menus. All within an ambiance and atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.
