At Elkhart General Outpatient Nutrition, registered dietitians perform nutrition counseling services for patients across all of Beacon Health System. Everyone has unique nutritional needs. Chronic diseases and conditions, eating disorders, treatment for cancer and various other health factors influence those needs. For some, nutritional needs are also influenced by mental and emotional characteristics surrounding food. Registered dietitians at Beacon Nutrition Counseling are licensed and credentialed to work with patients from all walks of life and establish their nutritional needs, goals and plans. Dr. Lauren Das received her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency training in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago, Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology. During her residency training, she served as a chief resident and completed a master's degree in clinical research for health professionals at the University of Chicago, Department of Public Health Sciences. Prior to her medical training, she received her bachelor's degree in biology with a concentration in genetics from Duke University. Dr. Das has participated in a wide variety of research pursuits and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American Brachytherapy Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Radiation Oncology. She has special interests in intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, image-guided radiation therapy and other advanced techniques.
